Rooms
Our clients came to us with existing hotel building known as Hotel Pacific, located in the heart of the city. PMA scope was to increase the efficiency of the existing building by allowing for a more optimum use of space and increase the room count and reprogram the public spaces, keeping the building shell and core intact. PMA increased the room count from 53 to 90 rooms and reprogrammed the public spaces, the arrival experience and the facade to be more responsive to the local culture. The attempt was to create a sense of space for hotel and align the architecture and interior design to the city and not dropin a alien building/ design. From creating a "Tilak" sculpture in the reception lobby to the design of a water body that flows across the drop off with floating lights as offerings, hinting at the ceremonies held on the Ganges river that is the lifeline of the city. The facade design responded to the vertical trees that are in the forests of Dehradun which one passes thru to reach the hotel. Vertical timber finished fins were placed in a random pattern and overlayed on the facade as a suggestion.
